Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce people. A brave warrior and wise leader who after fighting the white settlers and military for many years went on a march to escape the military that lasted for several months before he eventually chose "To Fight No More For Ever." They were thenforced to live on the reservation where he still fought and won legal battles to get a better lifefor his people.
The warriors in these paintings were spiritual leaders of their people. I have portrayed them in the way European Renaissance painters would portray their spiritual leaders with halos around their heads. Since the
American Indians believe we are all connected to all living things I used natural skies for halos.
